Subject: [
Dear [
[Your name] ←
Dear Professor [Last Name], |
Dear [Last Name], |
Dear Dr. [Last Name], |
Hi [First Name], |
Dear Sir/Madam(太过正式且感觉群发)Hey Professor(太随意)To whom it may concern(太像投诉信)- 直接写名字(没被邀请的情况下)
Hi Dr. Smith,
Dear Dr. Smith,
[COMP1511] Question about Assignment 1 – John ZhangRequest for Extension – ECON1101 Essay, Student ID: z5123456Office Hours Appointment Request – MATH2041
Question(太模糊)HELP URGENT(不专业)- 空白(大概率进垃圾箱)
(Extension Request)
Subject: [ECON2102] Extension Request for Assignment 2 – [Your Name]
Dear Dr. [Last Name],
I hope this email finds you well. I am writing to request an extension
for Assignment 2, which is currently due on [date].
Due to [brief reason – illness / family emergency / overlapping deadlines],
I am unable to complete the assignment to the standard I would like by
the original deadline. I have [describe progress so far, e.g., "completed
the literature review and have a draft outline"].
Would it be possible to have a [X-day] extension, until [new date]?
I understand this is subject to your approval and I am happy to provide
supporting documentation if required.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Best regards,
[Your Full Name]
Student ID: [Your ID]
[Course Name and Tutorial Group]
注意:
- 不要夸大原因——"I've been very busy" 不是好的延期理由
Office Hours
Subject: Office Hours Appointment – [Your Name], [Course Code]
Dear Professor [Last Name],
I am [Your Name], a student in your [Course Name] class (Tutorial [X],
[time]).
I would like to schedule an office hours appointment to discuss
[specific topic – e.g., "my understanding of the essay question" /
"feedback on my draft"]. I have reviewed the course materials but
still have some questions I believe would benefit from a brief discussion.
Are you available during your office hours on [day/time]? If not,
I am flexible and happy to arrange a time that suits you.
Thank you,
[Your Name]
(Grade Query)
Subject: [BUSN3001] Assignment 1 Grade Query – [Your Name]
Dear Dr. [Last Name],
I hope you are well. I received my mark for Assignment 1 and wanted
to follow up on the feedback.
I noticed that [specific aspect – e.g., "the section on market analysis
received a lower score than I expected"]. I have reviewed the rubric
and the comments, but I would appreciate some clarification on
[specific question], as I want to improve in future assignments.
Would it be possible to arrange a brief meeting or call to discuss
the feedback further? I am available [your available times].
Thank you for your time.
Best regards,
[Your Name]
- "I think my grade is wrong."(直接质疑,容易引起反感)
- "Can you remarke my assignment?"(拼错且语气不好)
Subject: Request for Dissertation Supervision – [Topic Area]
Dear Professor [Last Name],
My name is [Your Name], a [Year] student in [Program]. I am writing
to inquire about the possibility of you supervising my dissertation
on [topic area].
I have been particularly interested in [specific aspect of their
research] after reading your paper/book on [title], and I believe
my research interest aligns with your expertise in [area].
My proposed research question is: [1-2 sentences describing your topic].
I would be very grateful if you could meet briefly to discuss
whether you would be available for supervision. I have attached
a brief research proposal for your review.
Thank you for considering my request.
Sincerely,
[Your Name]
[Program / Year]
[Contact Information]
(After a meeting or receiving help)
Subject: Thank You – [Course Code] Meeting
Dear Dr. [Last Name],
Thank you for taking the time to meet with me [today / on Tuesday].
Your guidance on [specific topic] was very helpful, and I now have
a much clearer direction for [the essay / the project / my research].
I will [action you'll take – e.g., "incorporate your feedback into
my draft and aim to submit by Friday"].
Thank you again.
Best regards,
[Your Name]
(Cold email)
Subject: Inquiry Regarding [Research Area / PhD Program] – [Your Name]
Dear Professor [Last Name],
I am [Your Name], a [background – e.g., "final-year undergraduate
at UNSW majoring in Computer Science"]. I am writing to express
my interest in [PhD program / research collaboration] in your group.
I came across your work on [specific paper or project], and I found
your approach to [specific aspect] particularly compelling. This
aligns closely with my research interest in [your area].
I am exploring opportunities to [apply for PhD / do a research
internship / collaborate on X], starting in [semester/year]. Would
you be open to a brief conversation to discuss whether there might
be a suitable opportunity?
I have attached my CV and a brief statement of research interest
for your reference.
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
[Your Name]
Sincerely, / Kind regards, |
Best regards, / Best, |
Thank you again, / With gratitude, |
I am [name], a student in your [course] class.
Please reply ASAP 或 I need this by tomorrow = 教授最不喜欢看到的句子。用 When you have a chance 或 At your earliest convenience。
